Pura Mangkunegaran merupakan istana kediaman Adipati Mangkunegaran. Beda ya sama Keraton Surakarta (tempat tinggal Raja Pakubuwono). Saya ke sini karena katanya bangunan lebih baru dan terawat. Percampuran budaya Jawa dan Eropa. Tempat parkirnya super luas. Tidak terlalu ramai tempatnya, karena yg parkir kadang bukan untuk ke sini. Pintu masuk museum dekat pintu masuk kendaraan. Karena tempatnya sangat besar, tanya orang sekitar. Tiketnya bayar duluan. Kita bisa dapat tour guide dengan bayar tip sukarela. Tour guide nya akan menjelaskan tentang Pura ini beserta membantu ambil foto. Tempatnya cukup besar, dengan banyak peninggalan sejarah. Ada daerah yang tidak boleh difoto. Menurut saya tempat itu suasananya cukup mistis, masih ada benda2 yang diberi sesajen. Ada beberapa tempat yang tidak bisa dikunjungi karena memang ini masih kediaman aktif. Cukup terawat tapi bisa lebih dipercantik lagi. Overall recommended untuk jalan-jalan setelah kulineran di Solo.<br><br>Edit : ada tempat baru yaitu Taman Pracima - Tuin Lowres yg direncanakan buka untuk umum mulai Januari 2023 karena baru direvitalisasi untuk pernikahan hits Ka*sang putra pres*den Jok*wi. |

As a local, it was a nice experience to get a glimpse of Javanese royal tradition in modern day. Confirming and adding some new knowledge. It's a guided tour (included in the ticket price of Rp30K/pax for local tourists) for less than 1 hour. The guide was knowledgeable and fun. We'll be allowed some time to take pictures during the tour. But if you're into taking portraits, you may wish to have more time.<br><br>We went in the afternoon, I think 1 hour before closing time and finished the tour on the dot. Payment experience was seamless, accepting QR/card only. Wide parking areas available with Rp5K charge (cash).<br><br>Dress code: no shorts/mini skirts above the knees. If you do, they'll provide you with a Javanese traditional fabric to wrap around (it's nice for pic, btw!). Also, you'll not allowed to wear "batik parang pattern" as it's strictly for royals only. |

The palace was built over 200 years ago. They still maintain the palace quite well. Very nicely done up garden. Beautiful marble floors. There's a shop inside the palace selling t-shirt, batik, souvenirs, etc. It is still the official palace welcoming dignitaries for meeting. Ample carpark space. To visit the palace, tourist have to pay 50000 IDR. Every visitors will be provided with a guide so that they can explain the history of the palace and the area. |

You are right and we trying our utmost best in digesting the facts narrated by the guide, or shall I say after some time, listening didn’t matter. Mangkunegaran Palace, also known as Pura Mangkunegaran Palace, dating from 1757, and still accommodating the royal family till this day, was built through a long history under the rule of Mangkunegaran I and do I have to say that housing the royal family collection and all things correlated? These collection can be seen in the royal halls, in each section, as well as along the corridors leading in and out of the courtyards and garden. Honestly guys, given a choice, I would have skipped Mangkunegaran Palace because I doubt it would have been a major lost to my travelling gram. Then again? What should I say? Mangkunegaran Palace listed as a must explore and must do in Solo? |

They provide guides; very friendly, helpful, and educated ones.<br>There are some prohibition on what clothes to wear or which area you shouldn't wander. It's a palace after all.<br>One thing you might find it common is about the cleanliness in the parking area. Too many trash, not enough trash-can. Not sure if there's also not enough cleaning staff or they're just non-existent. |

This castle was and still served as the formal residence of the Mangkunegaran house. This house was established after the Salatiga Pact in 1757 that divided the already segregated Javanese sultanate into three power houses: the Pakubuwana, Hamengkubuwana and Mangkunegara. The first lord of the Mangkunegara House was Said, a related family to the existing sultanate that with his band raided the Dutch Colonial powers at that time. To end the turmoil, a division pact was decided between the rivaling parties and the Durch Colonials. The existing Pakubuwana sultanate offers their land ownership to the new Mangkunegara house, were Said was credited as a lord.
