Tiket dewasa masih 50rb per kepala, anak" dibawah 10th 25rb, hanya untuk sampai plataran bawah saya, tidak untuk sampai bisa naik ke atas candi, untuk naik ada charge tambahan. Untuk sampai ke candi dari pintu masuk harus jalan dulu, tapi bisa juga naik mobil golf bayar 20rb pernah orang dapet air minum. Jalur naik ada dua bisa lewat tangga tengah atau jalur yang lebih landai, atau jalur kiri untuk stroller bayi juga bisa. Yang perlu jadi concern adalah lingkungan sekitar di area plataran candi masih banyak yang berupa pasir kuning, kenapa dari pengelola tidak dirubah jadi lebih bersih, karena debu berterbangan kemana-mana. kalau posisi habis hujan sih agak mending yaa, untuk balik ke pintu keluar juga ada fasilitas mobil golf, nanti diarahkan ke museum dahulu baru keluar ke arah pasar atau tempat oleh-oleh, kita hari jalan menyusuri lorong-lorong tsb utk bisa keluar, harap pengelola juga memperhatikan jalur exit ini, kami tidak keberatan kalau suruh jalan didalam pasar, tapi pastikan jalan cukup lebar, bagus, bersih dan terang. |

Hampir saja saya putar balik tidak jadi ke candi karna antrian suttle nya mengular, ternyata bisa ditempuh dengan berjalan kaki sekitar kurang lebih 500 meter dengan jalanan yg bersih bagus dan rindang seperti berjalan di kebun raya. Mohon pengurus candi Borobudur tolong diberi pemberitahuan jika bisa berjalan kaki menuju plataran candi dengan jarak sekian meter karna akses nya sudah bagus sekali, jika musim liburan dan pengunjung membludak tidak perlu mengantre lama untuk suttle. You’ll pay a much higher fee than locals to visit the largest Buddhist temple in the world. If you are okay with that, as we were, seeing this 9th century temple was worth the visit. I like how they only allow so many visitors at one time on the structure itself (we visited during slow season March 2, 2026). What was frustrating was that they require you to wear their sandals and then lug your shoes around the entire time in the heat and up the structure. There should have been a place to leave them like many museums/religious temples around the world. Once we completed our tour, our guide told us to go down the back stairs and exit. We could choose to walk the gardens or take the shuttle back she said. She did not go with us. We walked down to the shuttle and were told we couldn’t take it back. We walked through the gardens with little to no signs on which way to go. By time we made it to a building, we had to go through endless kiosk of the gift shops. At this point we were exhausted, hot, and just wanted out of this unventilated structure and it just kept going, all the while vendors hounded us to buy their trinkets. Our guide from the museum, which you have to have, never should have left us. She started with us and should have made sure we made it back to the exit. It was a maze and we just wanted out. Somehow, when you exit, make them take you back on the shuttle. Walking through all those gift shops after the heat is not a time to think and shop. They have it backwards. |

Go early. Even on the 0830 entry, we were all sweating. You obtain their required footwear to climb the temple. They also give you a bag for your footwear and a small bottle of water. Grab a tour leader number and wait for your number to be called. Our guide "Kenny" was informative and conscientious. He had us stand in the shade, sit during certain times, suggesting taking photos on the less crowded side.<br><br>The foreigner entrance price is high. I just hope they use the proceeds for upkeep.<br><br>I took a star off because they charged for entrance to the museum and for carts back to the exit. |

The temple is very big, you need to climb many stairs so don't forget to drink enough water because of the heat especially in July or August. Sadly, the entry ticket 🎟 for foreign tourist is much higher than for local tourists. Make sure you bring enough money 💰 to pay the tickets and foods and drinks there because the temple complex is big. The view from the top of borubudur is nice though. It will shows you the greenery of magelang city. |

The temple is undoubtedly spectacular and everything is well-maintained and organized! I'm not giving it 5 stars because there were some things I didn't really like. With only an hour, the guide rushes a lot, and there are other people in your group, so taking photos in the best spots is impossible! The fact that they give you slippers that you can keep is really nice; they say it's for the temple's preservation, but then you see the guides going up in sneakers; I think that's unacceptable! While we were going up (we entered at 8:30), at a certain point, there was someone cleaning with a pressure washer, so it made a lot of noise and splashed dirty water on us too! In such an important and expensive temple (It's also bad that you pay more than double than a Indonesian people)l, I think that's very strange! Like the fact that they take you there by shuttle but don't take you back; that's not very clear. |

Borobudur Temple is absolutely breathtaking — truly one of the most awe-inspiring places I’ve visited in Indonesia. The scale, detail, and history behind this temple are just incredible. Walking up through the different terraces as the sun rises, surrounded by mist and the sound of birds, is something that feels almost spiritual. Every level reveals new carvings and stories, and the view from the top is unforgettable.<br><br>That said, the guided tour could have been better. Our guide was kind and enthusiastic, but unfortunately very difficult to follow — his explanations were rushed and not very clear, so most of the group ended up wandering off and exploring on our own. It’s a shame, because with a bit more structure and clear storytelling, the tour could have really brought the temple’s history to life.<br><br>Even so, Borobudur is a must-visit. Whether or not you get a great guide, the atmosphere and beauty of the site more than make up for it. If you visit, I’d recommend either reading a bit about the temple’s background beforehand or using an audio guide, so you can better appreciate what you’re seeing.<br><br>A truly remarkable place — just wish the guided experience matched the magic of the monument itself. 🌅 |

My visit to Borobudur during high school four years ago was hampered. We could not enter the temple structure because it coincided with the Vesak Day celebration, so we could only admire the UNESCO icon from the outer area.<br><br>Although magnificent from afar, the experience on the open courtyard was quite challenging. The weather was extremely scorching and hot, and the walking distance from the gate felt long. Prospective visitors should be fully prepared with sun protection.<br><br>Despite the limitations and the heat, Borobudur is highly recommended. The peaceful and well-maintained outdoor environment makes it ideal for refreshing the mind. This destination is suitable for everyone, from couples to large groups. |

Debido al aforo hay que comprar entradas con antelación para acceder al interior (totalmente recomendable). La entrada incluye unas chanclas para el trayecto (que luego te puedes quedar) y un guía. Lo malo es que el tiempo dentro es bastante limitado y el recorrido con el guía es bastante general y las explicaciones escasas. Las primeras horas estan menos abarrotadas. |

We choosed for a private guide (ad 200.000 RP extra); which was well worth it. Nordin was our guide and he give a very clear explanation away from other visitors. Ignoring the ticket price and dual pricing which is very common in Southeast Asia, Borobudur is an amazing 8th century Buddhist temple well worth visiting.<br><br>The Temple<br>The rest of the experience leaves a lot to be desired. There is little shade to hide from the sweltering heat. There are limited slots allowing only 150 people/slot to visit the structure for conservation reasons. Throngs of people wait in the sun for their designated slot and tour to start.<br><br>The Guide<br>Very knowledgeable, fluent in English. No complaints, actually enjoyed the tour.<br><br>The Grounds<br>The temple grounds and gardens are an absurdity that require golf carts to get around due to their sheer size. On the other hand, they are pristine and beautifully maintained. There are maps to facilitate your movement but they're all missing the 📍marker with where you currently are. The drinks shop on the temple grounds are x3 the regular price.<br><br>The Organisation<br>Whole place seems designed for crown control which was unnecessary at the time we visited. I suspect it may get insanely busy on public holidays. But this whole process makes it a nightmare when it's not busy. We had 2h here and half of that time was spent waiting or queuing for various reasons. Which left 1 hour to visit the temple.<br><br>Should you visit? - Yes. 🛕<br>Would I go again? - Maybe 🤔<br><br>P.S. The foam & bamboo sandals you are given as part of your structure ticket are cute. They must be worn if visiting the temple building. |

This site was high on my list while visiting Indonesia. It was beautiful and I am glad I went but not exactly what I was expecting. The complex and museum are huge. They make you wear sandals they give you to climb in which weren’t the most comfortable nor good for my back. I think it’s because of the grip and to make sure people won’t slip and fall.<br><br>They run you through timed entry queues so make sure to buy tickets in advance. This makes sense or it would be over run with tourists and probably dangerous on the uneven and steep stairs.<br><br>Worth seeing if you are in the area for sure. I recommend bringing an umbrella and/hat because the shade is minimal and even at 8:30am when we went quite intense. Also be prepared to walk farther in those sandals than just temple itself. You exit in the back and have to come all the way around and back to where the shuttle stop will pick you up to take you back to the museum. |

2025.02平日訪問。<br>オフシーズンなので当日券でも行けます。<br>時間を刻みたい人は到着する少し前にチケットを購入。<br>①チケットは寺院の入場チケット<br>②寺院入場&寺院を登るチケット<br>の二種類ある。<br><br>観光で来て入場だけの人はいないでしょうから②のチケットを予約しました。<br><br>チケット引き換えカウンターから登山の時間指定集合場所までは10分くらいかかるので気をつけて。<br><br>チケット引き換え(QRコードレシートみたいなチケット)したら、荷物を預ける。<br>建物の奥へ進むと20人乗りくらいのカートに乗る。ここでとある程度の人数が乗らないと出発しないので注意。<br><br>到着して進むと建物がある。QRコード見せるとサンダル、水、エコバッグ、番号札を受けとる。<br>ちなみに私は靴のサイズが27インチでインドネシアでは41のサイズがピッタリでした。<br><br>奥へ進むとベンチだらけのあずまやみたいなところに着く。<br>ここで番号を呼ばれて行くと「あのガイドに付いていって」と、番号書かれた旗を持っているガイドの所へ行く。<br><br>ガイドは英語でした。<br>ガイド付いて行き、寺院の上の方までたどり着くと解散。自由行動。<br><br>所要時間は2時間半くらい。 |

昨年の10月から、出入口や駐車場がガラッと変わったようです。最初そのことを知らず、ホテルは旧入り口近くにしてしまったので、慌てて取り直しました。<br><br>無料で預けられる荷物クロークがあったのでとても助かりました。<br><br>【流れ】<br>チケットカウンター（購入済のQRを見せるとリストバンドをしてくれます）→<br>荷物チェック→カートにのる→受け付け（ガイドのグループ札と草履、水の引換書をもらう）→草履、水の引換→待合室で時間が来るのを待ってガイドさんと合流。<br><br>私達は朝一の8:30の登頂ツアーに参加。<br>受け付けは8:00オープンだったので、開くまで少し待ちました。<br><br>基本は英語でのガイドでしたが、少しだけ日本語もできる方だったので、要所要所の単語を日本語でも説明して下さり、理解が深まりました。<br>20分程フリータイムがあり、集合後はサクッと写真撮影のベストポイントの説明と挨拶があり、ぴったり10時にはツアー終了！<br><br>カート（無料）は、往復共に空いていてほとんど待たずに乗れました。10時半頃入り口に戻った時には、人が増えて来ていたのでどうかな？という感じでした。<br><br>登頂ツアーは、1人約4500円と値ははりますが、ストゥーパを間近で見てこそ価値があると思うので、お勧めします。 |

Although countless events are held at one of Indonesia’s most iconic temples, this was actually my first return visit since my school study tour years ago. A lot has changed since my last trip back in 2017/2018, starting from the arrangement of souvenir shops, garden layouts, architecture represented by new buildings, and parking areas to the overall structure of the complex, which now feels far more organized and convenient for both local and international visitors.<br><br>Ticket options are flexible, you can purchase them online or offline, with pricing explained clearly. On this visit, I came with an international friend, and we were quite surprised by the significant price difference between local and international tickets, especially for those wanting access to climb up the temple. The rates felt relatively expensive compared to other temple entries in and around Yogyakarta. That said, there are bundled ticket packages available with relatively affordable prices if you’d like to explore Borobudur together with other temples nearby, like ratu Boko or Prambanan.<br><br>For those planning to climb to the top, I highly recommend ordering your tickets online well in advance (from traveloka), particularly if you’re visiting on weekends or during peak seasons, but make sure you ordered it on the right date because refunds are not available. The site itself is very spacious but also very hot under the sun, so bring an umbrella, plenty of drinking water, and consider your stamina, especially if you or your family member aren’t used to long walks. Strollers, wheelchairs, and assistance services are available on-site, which is a thoughtful touch.<br><br>Another note: be cautious of unofficial guides approaching you with offers, and if you’re driving, make sure you have enough balance on your e-money card, as everything is now barcode-based, from the entrance area to the area to go up. While this reflects the shift toward digital systems, it can feel a bit inconvenient, especially if you booked online via apps like Traveloka since you’ll need to keep your phone ready at all times.<br><br>Overall, despite the higher ticket prices, the experience remains worthwhile. As a local tourist, I’d say Borobudur is a must-visit at least once in a lifetime. |

Sin embargo, el precio de la entrada me pareció excesivo, considerando que la visita a la base se puede realizar en poco más de 30 minutos.<br><br>Intentamos conseguir la entrada adicional para subir a la cima del templo, pero estaban agotadas cuando intentamos comprarlas. Aunque, sinceramente, también me pareció excesivo el precio de esta experiencia extra.<br><br>Lo más largo de la visita fue la salida, ya que el recorrido te obliga a pasar por una gran cantidad de puestos. Aunque no tengas intención de comprar, el trayecto resulta bastante extenso y un poco pesado. |

Beautiful temple like everyone said. So let me focus on the logistics and challenges.<br>1. After you buy the ticket, you have to take a tram (free) to the visitor center. But you can also choose to walk through the beautiful gardens. It is a short walk (maybe 10-15 minutes) and worth it.<br>2. At the visitor center, you are given slippers. These are mandatory only when going into the temple structure, not for the gardens. You can keep wearing your shoes in other areas.<br>3. It is not a functioning temple. There is nothing in the main stupa and you are not even allowed to go to that level. Even for all other floors, there is no covered structure or interior of the temple. You will be exploring everything in the hot sun (or rain).<br>4. There is no shade or trees in the temple. It gets awfully hot. I wish they would open it from 6 am and keep it open until sunset. The 9 am to 5 pm timing (apparently UNESCO enforced) makes no sense in a hot tropical Asian country.<br>5. If you have the 8.30 am booking, it means your temple visit starts at 9 am (it is very hot by then even in February). Your guide will slowly walk you from the main path towards the temple from 8.30 to 9 am. Once you are in the temple at 9 am, he will show you around for 25 minutes and then you have free time to explore on your own.<br>6. If you reach the visitor center early and have collected your sandals, don’t just sit in the designated area. Use the time well to explore the gardens and take some lovely photos.<br>7. Backpacks are allowed. So carry your water bottle, sun screen, umbrella, sun hat, sunglasses etc.with you.<br>8. The morning slot (8.30 am) gets sold pretty fast. So book one or two weeks in advance. The super hot midday slots are always available. |

Unbedingt im Voraus buchen, da man dann Zeitslots zu je 1,5 h bekommt, bei der man auf das Monument raufgehen kann.
