We stayed in one of the five cottages at Manohara Hotel, which basically means you’re playing the fastest-finger game with other travelers, book way in advance or end up in one of the 33 regular deluxe rooms by the reception. The cottages are a good 10-minute free shuttle ride from both Borobudur and the lobby, so be ready for a little scenic isolation. Honestly, staying two nights feels like the sweet spot. you get to soak in the vibe without feeling like you’ve moved in permanently.<br><br>The cottage itself is surprisingly spacious, and the grounds are lush and picture-perfect, the kind of place where even the bugs seem polite. There’s no pool, so if swimming in your Instagram story is a deal-breaker, sorry. But the real winner? You can see Borobudur without even leaving your bed, ultimate lazy traveler perk. The staff are genuinely warm and helpful, and the breakfast is solid enough to make you forgive the lack of a waffle station. All in all, it’s peaceful, charming, and just remote enough. |

This hotel manages the sunrise/ sunset tours including guide and breakfast or dinner. The sunsettour was great, small amount of people. The buffet was way below standard.<br>White rice, fried rice, fried miehoen, fried chicken, cooked chicken and some mixed vegetables. No sauces only sambal, no taste. (A simple soup and some fruit for desert)<br>Better book this tour, enjoy Borobodur in a quite way and skip this buffet. Any streetcorner can serve a tastier meal. |

After traveling through the countryside and rice paddies of Central Java, we finally arrived at Borobudur just before 3 PM. The place I chose to stay was within the world-famous Borobudur temple complex — reportedly the only hotel inside the complex: Manohara Resort.<br><br>As the taxi stopped at the hotel’s entrance, I knew I’d made the right choice. Starting from the gate, the hotel’s décor exuded a rich Southeast Asian vibe: tree-lined paths, Javanese music playing in the background, and just the right touch of religious elements…<br><br>Its biggest highlight is undoubtedly its unbeatable location. Situated right in the backyard of Borobudur, it’s only a few steps away from the temple. When we saw it, we were almost surprised by how close it was — perhaps even closer than a Disney hotel is to its castle.<br><br>Another “brilliant perk” that guests love to talk about is that the room rate includes the highly sought-after ticket to climb to the top of Borobudur — which normally requires advance booking. |

This hotel is located within the Borobudur archaeological park. It is reportedly the only hotel inside the grounds, and staying here grants you complimentary tickets. Note: ⚠️ This is for standard daytime entry only! If you want to see the sunrise or sunset, you must purchase those tickets separately!<br>😮💨<br>⭕️ Location:<br>Less than 1km from the Borobudur entrance. Although staying here allows "free" access to the monument, you can't just wander in whenever you like; you must follow a guide arranged by the hotel reception. Individual tourists are not permitted to enter alone.<br>🙄<br>⭕️ Cleanliness:<br>Generally quite tidy. No noticeable dust or "critters" inside! Even though this is only a 3-star hotel, I must say it’s far more reliable than hotels of the same rating along the Szechwan-Tibet line!<br>✨<br>⭕️ Room Facilities:<br>✅ Air conditioning—but it's quite noisy! ✅ Bottled water. ✅ Disposable slippers. ✅ Wardrobe. ✅ 3 clothes hangers. ✅ Drying rack on the balcony. ✅ Full-length mirror. ✅ Tissues on the nightstand—but they are incredibly thin! ✅ Toilet paper—also very thin. The mattress firmness is moderate. The pillows are thick and fluffy, but they are overstuffed with cotton, so you don't get that "sinking in" feeling when you lie down! ❌ Universal adapter—overseas travelers need to bring their own, though there are UK and US ports on the wall. ❌ Blackout curtains—the upper part of the window has no covering at all, making it very difficult to sleep in after sunrise; an eye mask is a must. ✅ Independent Wi-Fi (5G)!<br>🛌<br>⭕️ Bathroom:<br>✅ Separate wet and dry areas. ✅ Hairdryer (old school). ✅ Toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash, 2-in-1 shampoo, bath towels, cotton swabs, and small plastic bags. Must bring your own: ❌ facial cleanser, hand soap, conditioner, etc. The showerhead 🚿 height is fixed and non-adjustable—and it is set ridiculously high! The average height in Indonesia is 153cm for women and 165cm for men, so why on earth would you mount a showerhead at 2.1 meters?! Most people probably can’t even reach to take it down, let alone wash from different angles. Is it that hard to install an adjustable rail? This is a serious interior design flaw! Also, the drain was slightly clogged.<br>🚿<br>⭕️ Soundproofing:<br>Since these are wooden cabins, the soundproofing is naturally poor. At night, you'll hear fruit falling onto the roof. Fortunately, there is decent space between the cabins, so there’s no human noise. However, the ambient noise floor is around 30 decibels, which isn't exactly "quiet" for the countryside.<br>😔<br>⏭️ The hotel has ❌ elevators as all in level one, and the guest rooms are a significant distance from the reception; you’ll need a shuttle to get around. Travelers with large suitcases should choose carefully, as the paths consist of stone steps. While the porters will help carry your luggage to the room, you might have to lug it yourself when checking out—unless, of course, you don't mind the hassle of calling for assistance.<br>😅<br>The staff here are polite and proactive with greetings. Breakfast and afternoon tea are provided, but the listed times are wrong! It’s basically "trolling" the guests! I’ll go into more detail in their restaurant review. Also, sunrise or sunset tickets purchased here include a meal by default, which overlaps with the hotel’s provided meals. To make matters worse, dinner buffets actually ran out of food! 😡<br>😤<br>Making customers who have been walking all day go hungry—that is just incredibly stingy n unreasonable! 💢 |

I didn’t stay here, but this hotel manages the Sunrise ticket, currently priced at 1,000,000 IDR. The tour guide was excellent, the temple is incredible. The breakfast, however… instant coffee in Java?! The selection was more lunch food than breakfast. Breakfast aside, the cloudy, moody sunrise was wonderful and only 28 people booked the day I went. |

ホームページに記載のメールアドレスから予約。コテージに1泊で約2.4万円程度、朝食とアフタヌーンティー（といってもパン1つ、ケーキ1つ、とコーヒーか紅茶だけ）、ボロブドゥール寺院のガイド付きツアー料金、が含まれている。<br><br>予約の際、半額程度をデポジットとして事前に指定の口座まで振り込むように依頼されるが、お願いしたらクレジットカードで払うことも可能。<br><br>ロケーションはボロブドゥール寺院の敷地内のため、寺院が目的ならかなり便利（なお、ホテルまで空港からタクシーで90分程度かかる、料金は3-4,000円くらい）。チェックイン後、コテージ近くまでは車を出してくれる（車で5分程度、歩いたら恐らく20分程度？）。<br><br>到着日の夕食については、近くにレストランもあるようだったが、あいにくの雷雨だったためルームサービスで済ませた。値段は1メニュー1,000円しない程度で、かなりリーズナブル。<br><br>朝食は基本的にレセプション近くの会場で提供されるが、お願いしたらコテージまで運んでくれる。バルコニーで食べたがとても良かった。なお、他の宿泊者に聞いたが、以前は朝食会場から寺院がよく見えたようだが、現在は会場が改装中で何も見えないとのこと。<br><br>ガイド付きツアーについては朝8:30にレセプション集合のため、8:15とかにコテージ近くまで車を回してもらうようお願いしておくと良い。ツアーについては、他にも日本人客がいたためか、日本語ができるガイドが付いてくれて大変良かった。<br><br>上記のような細かい調整や依頼は全てフロントの担当者とWhatsAppで可能なため、インストールしておくとかなり便利 |
