If you ever visited Angkor Wat, you may skipped it. Don’t know who and how made that comparison, but comparing Prambanan to Angkor Wat is like comparing Yogjakarta to Singapore.<br>Definitely overpriced, as all tourists attractions in Indonesia (that’s the „advantage”of being foreigner - you’re forced to paid 8-10 times more than locals).<br>Crowded.<br>If you finally get there, please make sure to visit other temples: Lumbung, Bubrah and Sewu (imho most impressive than Prambanan).<br>Looks like plenty of reconstruction works around, so maybe in 10 years there will be more impressive buildings.<br>As it’s kind of Javanese temple’s tradition, exit is through neverending maze of shops with some really stubborn sellers.<br>Luckily we’re there for sunset time, and while leaving complex we matches time of closure of this market. |

I came to jogja to feel indonesian traditional culture enough.<br><br>I learned gamulan music in jogja before I visit here, and when I got here, always can hear adorable gamulan music from the speaker.<br><br>The temple was pretty huge, and very beautiful on camera, but in fact too busy with too many visitors, cannot think and feel the temple's heritage or messeges due to the many of visitors.<br><br>Everywhere was noisy with group visitors, hard to get photo without them<br><br>The sun light was really direct on us, but not enough place to hide of it,<br><br>The area where the statue was located inside the tower was so dark that you couldn't see an inch in front of you, and it was full of a disgusting smell, so I had to move quickly to get there.<br><br>There were many pieces that were still being restored, and it was unfortunate that it felt like they were being neglected rather than being managed with care overall.<br><br>After looking around the temple for about an hour, I was so exhausted from the direct sunlight, too high and narrow stairs, and the disgusting smell that I returned to my accommodation without looking around any further. |

I paid only 50k since I'm Indonesian yet foreign tourists had to pay 400k which is just ridiculous, insulting, and extortionate. Inside, guides would harrass us to try and sell their services. Sin embargo, quedamos muy decepcionados al ver las condiciones deplorables en las que mantienen a los animales salvajes (venados, casuarios, etc.). Los casuarios en jaulas diminutas solo podían caminar en círculos, expuestos al sol y sin comida aparente. Los venados también estaban en un espacio pequeño, antihigiénico y al sol. ¿Cuál es la necesidad de encerrar animales y mantenerlos así? ¿Se justifica esto bajo el pretexto de la educación? Claramente, esto no representa ningún tipo de educación. Esto genera una gran contradicción con la riqueza del sitio y plantea serias dudas sobre las prioridades de su gestión. Esta situación nos hizo cuestionar el tipo de lugar que visitamos y el turismo que apoyamos. Urge una revisión de esta situación por las autoridades competentes. |

Algo completamente inecesario, especialmente dada la amplitud de todo el complejo. Si por algún motivo, que no acabo de entender, tienen la necesidad de tener animales dentro de un templo al menos mantenganlos en condiciones dignas. Honestamente, lamento haber contribuido con mi dinero a esto. |

Imagination is required to visualize the past scale of the Prambanan complex and the adjoining temples. Unfortunately the current situation doesn't help much. This is not one of the well maintained UNESCO World Heritage sites. Yes, the lawns look good, but dig deeper, as we are not on a golf course. No proper explanation of the Trinity, not even a little light to see the inner sanctum. $25 just for the entry fee is a rip-off and a disgrace. One could visit any number of the hundreds of temples in Tamil Nadu (South India) for free, and come away with something much more than the hollow feeling one gets here. Borobudur is much better. |

My experience at Prambanan was quite intense and sadly disappointing. On one hand, I was deeply moved by the sheer magnificence of the site. On the other, I was genuinely shocked by the disrespectful behavior of most local visitors.<br><br>People were screaming, running around, and taking endless selfies and doing tiktok dances, while a few Hindu devotees were praying quietly at the feet of the Shiva temple, at the very heart of the complex. The energy felt less like that of a sacred site, and more like a busy marketplace. I wonder if they would have behaved so disrespectfully if this was a mosque!?<br><br>I later read online that this happens often at Prambanan and that it’s a known issue, which made me wonder why no measures seem to be taken to protect the sanctity of the space. |

Did not choose to go in because of the exorbitant prices they charge for foreigners. Locals pay a measly sum, and foreigners are charged 10x more (~25USD).<br><br>Made a detour around the perimeter of the place and caught some sights. It feels more like a garden than a historical ground.<br><br>The foreigner entrance is different from the locals entrance, and the ratio was 100:1 (local to foreigner) on the day I went. I’m not sure why this is the case. The sheer number of locals there would ruin the grounds, so why not level out the entrance fees for both foreigners and locals so the park can be maintained properly? |

The place is lovely, gorgeous to visit and a must-see when you are near.<br><br>What I hated was how to get around. I was there with my parents who both use a cane. They cannot walk that far, but were forced to pay for a car between all buildings separately.<br><br>There is a very randow free ride, that rides until a certain time and you cannot rely on that.<br><br>So many options they could provide. Either offer the cars for free for people that cannot walk, or even offer a car for the entire place from the start for a certain price. This feels like a rip off, they want to use people that cannot walk to make extra cash?! |

It’s a beautiful site, rich in history and well conserved. However not worth the 400k IDR. This is way too expansive for a visit that takes an hour when compared to the 25k locals have to pay. Certainly gold digging foreigners … The staff is nice in general however a dude became rude when seeing I have a drone (had no intention of using it) and started to shout in a threatening way “no drone no drone” after I asked if I can leave it somewhere. Just skip the temple and visit smaller, cheaper ones around for an identical experience. |

Einer der Tempel von Prambanan wurde zu unserer Besuchszeit restauriert. Um den Tempel war ein Gerüst aufgebaut, was das Gesamtbild leider verschlechtert hat. Die Tempel sind meiner Ansicht nach lediglich eine Touristenattraktion als ein Tempel mit wirklicher aktueller Bedeutung. 400000 IDR für Touristen sind überteuert. Impressive temples, they are probably even more magical at sunset and sunrise, but it's not crowded during the day.<br><br>However, as of spring 2025, the cost of entry is 400k for foreigners. Many large attractions in Europe cost less and offer more for the price (for example an audio guide or entrance to extra sights). Here we pay only for the entrance to the park and one can hire a guide for 150k extra. Not even a brochure is offered, so I find it hard understand the reasoning behind such high prices and it left us feeling robbed, honestly. |

Wenn man die anderen Tempel noch sehen möchte, muss man extra zahlen. 23€ sind es überhaupt nicht wert, die Touristen werden extrem abgezockt. Man ist sehr schnell fertig mit der Besichtigung. Beachte: der Exit-Weg ist mind. doppelt so lange als der Weg zum Tempel selbst. Man geht dann bei vielen Standeln und Getränkeshops vorbei und wird von jedem Maxl angesprochen. Kann man sich also für das Geld sparen und lieber was Leckeres essen gehen! |

Plus the fact that you can't even see the whole thing since many areas are closed off for the public.<br>Definitely visit the restaurant which overlooks the temple - Rama Shinta Garden Restaurant. It's located on the opposite side of the entrance to the temple and offers a beautiful view of the whole thing! |
