A peaceful temple complex near Prambanan that many visitors might overlook. It's quite a long walk from the main Prambanan area, and I only discovered it after seeing photos and the miniature model of the entire area in the Prambanan museum.<br><br>The area was much quieter and less crowded than the main temple complex, which made for a relaxing visit. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to explore the entire site, but it looked beautiful and worth visiting if you have extra time after Prambanan. |

Like Candi Bubrah and Lumbungan, Candi Sewu is included in the overall ticket price. Free golf cart shuttles also run between Sewu and Prambanan. Since few Indonesian tourists make the effort to come here, this temple is quiet, and you'll almost have it to yourself (for example, for taking photos). Sewu is also surprisingly large and in no way inferior to the more famous Prambanan. |

It was hot the morning I went, and since I had already visited four temples in the main area, I was honestly feeling kinda lazy to continue. But the rest of my group wanted to go, so I just followed along.<br>I am so glad there was a tram to carry us there. We joined a group of strangers and, while the heat was unignorable, the wind from the moving vehicle really eased the discomfort. We passed by two other temples before we finally got the chance to stop at Sewu.<br>The landscape there is beautiful. You can see the main structure standing in the distance from what I think is the main gate, with square black stones—the ruins—flanking you on both sides. To be honest, I actually favored this over Prambanan for photo backgrounds. It is much easier to find a spot here where you can capture everything in one frame because of the symmetrical layout. It feels like the 'same but opposite' version of Prambanan-similar stacked stones and chambers, but with distinct carvings and 'bells'-.<br>We were only given 10 minutes, if I remember correctly, which wasn't enough time for a complete tour. We took a few pictures and actually almost missed the tram back! Don’t miss this if you visit Prambanan, unless you plan to come again.<br>p.s: you need to pay for the tram. Later i realized people were also coming in from other gates from the other side. |

This is one of the four temples to visit in Prambanan complex. This temple is located right at the north of the complex, so it's slightly far from the south entrance. Many people came to this temple by electric scooter or bicycle, but it's still at a walkable distance. There are very few people exploring this temple compared to Prambanan Temple when we came, so it's definitely worth coming here. The area is also quite spacious, so there are plenty to explore. You can enter the area from the East side. The architecture here is amazing! |

But nevertheless this is a great piece of architecture that you shouldn't miss when you visit Prambanan temple. It is at the far end of the campus. We found very less crowd there. Not as impressive as the nearby Prambanan but still really awesome place to witness. It's included in your Prambanan ticket but much less crowded than the Prambanan temple. Visited Candi Sewu with the family as part of our must-do temple trip during the school holidays.<br>It was our first time doing a temple tour in Central Java — we started with Borobudur, then headed to Candi Sewu, which is in the same complex as Prambanan.<br><br>The temple complex is fascinating, full of historical vibes and legendary stories. I suggest walking to the complex (from the ticketing entrance), the view is really nice and you get to stop by to sit on the grass or by the bench. The entrance at the South side says closed but you just need to go round to the East side (to the right) to enter.
